Mathematics

K-2: This strand is for K-2 teachers and coaches. It will focus on K-2 standards, as well as the embedded Mathematical Thinking and Reasoning (MTR) Standards by proactively planning for Universal Design of Learning (UDL) using state resources. Participants will leave with manipulatives and resources that can be implemented in a classroom or school right away.

3-5: This strand is for grades 3-5 teachers and coaches. It will take a deep dive into the grades 3-5 standards through the lens of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the Mathematical Thinking and Reasoning (MTR) Standards. Participants will engage in hands-on instructional strategies and tasks that can be used to engage all students. Participants will leave with manipulatives and resources that can be implemented in a classroom or school right away.

6-8: This strand is for middle grades teachers and coaches. It will cover various topics in number sense, statistics, operations with integers, solving one-variable equations, percentages ratios, and geometric transformations. Sessions will focus on Grade 6 through Pre-Algebra expectations along with implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Participants will leave with manipulatives and resources that can be implemented in a classroom or school right away.

9-12: This strand is for high school teachers and coaches. It will expand upon participants’ pedagogy and content knowledge by experiencing activities that support the implementation of benchmarks in the 9-12 math courses: Algebra 1A, 1B, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, MCA, MDFL, MCLA, and Precalculus. Session materials will be applicable to any 9-12 math course and will address both Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the Mathematical Thinking and Reasoning (MTR) Standards. Participants will leave with manipulatives and resources that can be implemented in a classroom or school right away.

Leadership: This strand is for K-12 school and district administrators. It will focus on developing understanding and accessing resources for supporting a school and/or district in having high-quality math classrooms. Participants will learn the benefits of planning with the Universal Design of Learning (UDL) principles that can be applied across all content areas. Sessions will be from a K-12/district perspective. Participants will leave with manipulatives and resources that can be implemented in a classroom or school right away.

Computer Science
K-12: This strand is for Computer Science classroom teachers. It will provide an overview of the new K-12 Computer Science (CS) standards, including horizontal and vertical progression and alignment, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) access for all learners, implementation and integration, and current and upcoming CS education trends and policies. While sessions are designed for CS classroom teachers, administrators, and others may attend. Participants will leave with resources that can be implemented in a classroom or school right away.
